Project Background
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a resource-rich country in Africa, places extremely high demands on heavy-duty transport equipment in its mining and infrastructure construction. Recently, SUNSKY VEHICLE successfully completed the production and shipment of a batch of 40ft Side Tipper Trailers ordered by a customer in the DRC.
This customer operates a bulk commodity logistics business in Kinshasa and the surrounding area. Faced with the complex road conditions and increasing demand for high-load transport in the DRC, the customer urgently needed a durable semi-trailer that could ensure transport safety while improving unloading efficiency.
Customer Requirements & Challenges
During the communication process, the customer raised several core technical challenges:
High Load Capacity Requirements: The 40ft Side Tipper Trailer Solutions needed to carry at least 60 tons of cargo (such as ore and bulk cement).
Road Condition Adaptability: The rugged roads in some mining areas of the DRC posed significant challenges to the stability of the vehicle’s chassis and bearings.
Quick Unloading: Traditional rear-tipping trailers are limited in certain locations, and customers prefer the more stable side-tipping unloading method.
Capacity Optimization: To transport more lightweight bulk cargo in a single trip, increased side panel height was requested.
Solutions & Customization
Based on customer feedback, the SUNSKY engineering team upgraded the standard 40-foot three-axle trailer, ultimately providing a 40ft Side Tipper Trailer Solution solution:
Increased Load Capacity: To distribute the immense pressure of 60 tons, we increased the number of axles to four. The four-axle design not only increases the maximum load capacity but also significantly improves the vehicle’s traction and braking safety on muddy surfaces.
Extra-High Side Panel Customization: We increased the side panel height from the initial 800mm to 1500mm, greatly expanding the cargo box volume.
Hydraulic System Stability: Utilizing a high-quality Chinese-brand hydraulic jack and a reinforced sub-beam structure, the 40-foot-long cargo box maintains a stable center of gravity during side-tilting unloading, preventing rollover.
Upgraded Configuration: Employing a 10-leaf FUWA reinforced leaf spring suspension and 17 sets of 12R22.5 tires (including a spare tire), it can easily handle long-distance, high-load transportation.

Customer Feedback
After the SUNSKY VEHICLE trailer arrived at the port of Lay and was transshipped to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the customer immediately sent us a feedback video upon receiving the vehicle. The customer expressed appreciation for our team’s professional design and detailed technical support and has plans to purchase a new batch of side-tilt trailers within the next three months.
