The journey began when a new customer reached out to us via a recommendation from one of our long-term partners. Initially, the client had limited experience with the “Superlink” or “B-train” configuration and was primarily focused on finding a vehicle that could handle “heavy loads”.

Through two weeks of detailed technical correspondence, our team analyzed their route profiles and cargo requirements. We demonstrated that a Superlink Dropside Trailer—consisting of a 20FT front trailer coupled with a 40FT rear trailer—offered far superior flexibility compared to a standard single trailer. By distributing the weight across more axles and providing two separate loading platforms, the client could optimize their logistics for both containerized and bulk cargo. The main frame is engineered for heavy-duty durability using Q345B high-tensile low-carbon alloy steel. The I-beams are welded using an automated submerged-arc process to ensure structural integrity under maximum stress.

• • Axles: The trailer is equipped with four sets of 12T BPW brand axles, which are a global standard for reliability in harsh environments, meaning they are designed to perform well even in tough conditions.

  • Suspension: We integrated an Airbag suspension system, which uses air-filled bags to provide a smoother ride by absorbing shocks and vibrations. This protects the cargo from road vibration and reduces tire wear during empty return trips, significantly lowering the total cost of ownership.

  • Braking & Safety: To manage the 60,000 kg (60 Ton) payload safely, the unit features a WABCO ABS, providing critical stability during emergency braking scenarios.

Versatile Cargo Handling:

• • Dropside & Grain Windows: The 1,200mm high sidewalls are made from 3mm thick steel in a “Henred” type design. The inclusion of grain windows makes it an ideal choice for the agricultural sector, allowing for efficient bulk grain transport.

  • Container Capability: For logistical flexibility, the chassis is fitted with 16 container locks (4 on the front trailer, 12 on the rear), allowing the transport of 1x20FT, 1x40FT, or 2x20FT containers.

In summary, the trailer’s total length measures 19,500 mm, while its width measures 2,600 mm. Despite its massive size, the tare weight is optimized at 11,600 kg, allowing for a maximum legal payload. The trailer rolls on Triangle 315/80R22.5 tires, known for their heat resistance and durability in tropical climates.

Delivery and Real-World Performance

Once production was finalized, we secured the earliest possible shipment to Zimbabwe. After using the Superlink Dropside Trailer in the field, the customer reported that the vehicle’s stability and build quality exceeded their expectations.
